Tulisa Contostavlos has admitted to having cosmetic surgery on her lips and cheeks – a week after she posed with a ‘trout pout’ at the end of her assault trial.
The 26-year-old prompted speculation of cosmetic enhancements during appearances at Stratford Magistrates Court, where she was found guilty of attacking fashion blogger and new TOWIE cast-member Savvas Morgan.
Speaking to The Guardian, Tulisa has since owned up to having various procedures, during the protracted build up to the trial, including Botox and injections and fillers.
She said: ‘Yes, I’ve had my lips done, and I’m happy with my lips. And I also had a tiny bit of filler in my cheeks.
‘Pictures of me where my face swelling, I had water retention – where you have filler your face draws up loads of water. So my face began to swell like a balloon.’
In a candid interview the former X Factor judge admitted to having facial boosters after dropping to 7 stone 11Ibs as she prepared to face charges of conspiracy to supply Class A substances to an undercover reporter, who she believed to be a Bollywood producer, at a London restaurant.
She described how she was flown to Las Vegas first class before being ‘duped’ by Sun reporter Mazher Mahmood and his fixer.
The N-Dubz star claimed she bragged about knowing cocaine dealers in a bid to generate a ‘bad girl’ image, which Mahmood and his undercover team said they wanted for their fake project.
But while she’s frank about surgery, she insists her sharply defined nose is the result of contouring – a procedure favoured by TV personality Kim Kardashian.
‘It was a choice I made,’ she added. ‘I’d lost loads of weight and I was looking at my face and felt… It really bugs me when people say I’ve had a nose job. That’s just make-up.
‘So losing a stone, filler in my cheeks, my lips done and the contouring – and people do think, oh gosh, you look so different.’
During an eventful month the N’Dubz star was cleared of brokering a drug deal when her trial at Southwark Crown Court sensationally collapsed – but was later found guilty of assaulting Morgan and fined £3, 020.
The singer is believed to have attacked the blogger at the V Festival in Chelmsford last August.
Speaking outside the courthouse she said it had been a ‘rollercoaster week’ and she was determined to prove her innocence once again.
She said: ‘I did not assault Vas J Morgan and I am outraged at this decision – I will be appealing it.
‘There are a number of high-profile witnesses who were there and know what happened. I urge them to come forward and tell the truth.’
Her ordeal in the months leading up to the drug trial was eventually screened in warts and all documentary Tulisa: The Price of Fame – during which she admitted to contemplating suicide.
When asked by the BBC reporter if she had been thinking about taking her own life, she responded: ‘Yeah, I am being honest. I don’t care. Yeah’.
Tulisa said her personal assistant, Gareth Varey, was the one who called the ambulance and though she refused to go to hospital, the medics stayed with her for a few hours to ensure she was okay.
In a later interview with Charlotte Hawkins of Good Morning Britain she said the experience had toughened her up.
‘Its been a really really hard year – the most difficult year of my life but at the same time I always try to take a positive from a negative and its given me the kind of life experience that you can’t buy – that it takes some people ten years to gain, she said. ‘It’s also made me a wiser person. Stronger.’
